About Kym

Walking Humbly - Loving Boldly

Kym is a kind and discerning soul who lives and plays alongside her family on Dharawal Country in southern Sydney. With a deep reverence for the spirituality of Aboriginal peoples, she is gently integrating indigenous ways of knowing and being into her practice. Often lost in thought and wonder, digging down into new perspectives, she finds refreshment walking, swimming, and paddling in the waterways and national parks of the Shire.

With a background in Social Work, Kym spent over two decades in local church pastoral ministry, while also serving in community roles including School Chaplaincy, Women’s Homelessness Services, and Foster Care. She went on to support Leader Health and Formation as part of the Network Resourcing Team for churches of Christ in NSW and ACT with a particular focus on the development of Women in Leadership. She holds formal qualifications in Social Work (BA, UNSW), Pastoral Theology (MA, ACOM), Professional Supervision (Grad Cert, St Mark’s), Leadership (Grad Cert, Sydney College of Divinity), and completed her formation as a Spiritual Director through Listen Into Life,  a contemplative, ecumenical program within the Christian tradition.

Kym is now cultivating her practice, Slow Wild Spirituality and is enjoying the diversity of working ecumenically and collaboratively, She serves on the Australian Ecumenical Council for Spiritual Direction, working to see the flourishing of Spiritual Direction in Australia. Kym also co-facilitates The Round Community, a simple church and faith community who gather around the circle with an open table to listen deeply, share generously, and encounter the divine in one another and the world.

Kym continues to be formed through relationship with a number of professional and spiritual communities, including:

Drawing on her lived experience Kym is a well suited guide for women in Christian leadership, ministering persons, community chaplains, and the helping professions. Especially those navigating life’s thresholds, where doubt, disruption, and dissonance crack open sacred invitations.
